Career Development Employer Highlights

For this project, I interviewed employers attending the NEIU Career Development Center’s Fall 2025 Career Fair and produced a short video to highlight some of the employers that attended.

On the day of the event, I identified an opportunity to increase employer engagement and took initiative by quickly Doordashed a mini microphone, developed interview questions on-the-fly, and conducting informal, on-the-spot conversations with recruiters. This project demonstrates my creativity, adaptability, and problem-solving skills, as well as my ability to confidently communicate, network, and build rapport with a diverse range of professionals.

Meet the Staff!: I was given creative freedom to design a social media post introducing the Career Development staff for the 2025–2026 school year. This project allowed me to thoughtfully present each team member in a way that felt both professional and approachable, strengthening the department’s online presence.

Personal Projects: In my role as a Career Peer, I independently initiated and led two personal projects: creating a zine centered on first interview experiences and administering a survey for Sociology students. Both projects were designed to encourage reflection, normalize shared challenges, and gather meaningful insights from peers. To support and promote these initiatives, I developed short, engaging social media posts to increase awareness and participation. Visit this page to learn more about each project and the impact they had.

Event Highlights: During the Fall semester, I was tasked with creating highlight photo posts for two Career Development events: the Graphic Design Panel and the Power Closet event. These posts were designed to visually capture key moments and communicate the purpose and impact of each event to a wider audience.

Decolonize the CPS Curriculum: As part of a campaign to decolonize the CPS English curriculum, I created a post asking high school students, “What does decolonize mean to you?” and shared their responses. This highlighted students’ perspectives and amplified their voices in the fight to challenge Eurocentric curricula and promote educational equity.

Advocacy Social Media: While at the HANA Center, I managed the organization’s Twitter (now X) account during a Washington, D.C. trip advocating for the Clean DREAM Act and TPS protections. I created real-time updates—including photos, quotes from congressional meetings, and rally coverage—to keep our community informed and engaged. On the ground at the Senate, I also collaborated with colleagues to quickly create a phone script for calling congressional offices to hold them accountable. This work allowed me to document advocacy in a way that connected and empowered supporters, amplified our campaign beyond our immediate network, and demonstrated the impact of social media in mobilizing communities.

Career & Internship Fair Promotion Video

For this project, I produced a promotional reel designed to capture attention and increase engagement for the Career & Internship Fair. I intentionally selected the song “APT” for its recognizable and catchy sound, knowing it would help draw viewers in and boost visibility on social media. I styled my classmate in a suit and tie to convey professionalism, directed their movement on camera, and encouraged them to bring their own personality into the performance. This project allowed me to demonstrate creativity, visual storytelling, and an understanding of social media trends, while also showcasing my ability to direct, collaborate, and translate a professional message into an engaging and approachable format.

Career & Internship Fair Highlights Video

For this video, I created a highlights video that creatively showcased the scale and impact of the Career & Internship Fair. My goal was to emphasize the number of employers and students in attendance, as well as the positive outcomes of the event, in a way that felt engaging and relatable. I developed a concept styled as a text-message conversation, using a familiar and conversational format to communicate key information while maintaining viewer interest. This approach allowed me to blend storytelling with data-driven highlights, demonstrating creativity, audience awareness, and the ability to translate event outcomes into compelling visual content.
