Website Revamp and Resource Development
During my first few days as a Career Peer Advisor at NEIU’s Career Development Office, I quickly noticed that many student resources were outdated, difficult to navigate, or simply nonexistent. Recognizing an opportunity to improve accessibility and engagement, I took the initiative to completely revamp the office’s website and resources to better support student career development.
This project involved multiple strategic steps: I redesigned the resume template and created clear, easy-to-understand explanations for concepts like the elevator pitch. I added new sections to the website, including a monthly featured internship list and an embedded calendar built on Drupal that automatically syncs with the office’s Google Calendar to display up-to-date events. Additionally, I rewrote and reorganized almost all website content, ensuring it is visually appealing, easy to digest, and logically structured for students navigating career resources.
Through this project, I applied strategic planning, project coordination, and user-focused design to create a centralized, modern, and highly functional online platform. The updated website not only provides students with streamlined access to resources but also enhances engagement, empowers students to take actionable steps in their career readiness, and reflects the Career Development Office’s commitment to supporting student success.
