Advocacy and Reflection at the Women’s March
Attending the Women’s March was a pivotal experience in my social activism journey. It was one of my first times seeing mainstream, white-centered feminism, like the pink “pussy hats” and messaging that often didn’t reflect the experiences of women of color.
Participating alongside a group of Asian American women, we took the time to reflect on these dynamics and discuss how mainstream feminism can sometimes fail to address intersectional issues like race, class, and immigration. This reflection strengthened our commitment to amplifying the voices and experiences of women of color within broader advocacy movements.
The experience was both eye-opening and empowering, reinforcing my dedication to social justice work that is inclusive, intersectional, and attentive to marginalized communities. It also highlighted the importance of community dialogue and collective action in pushing for equity and representation in feminist activism.
