Advocating for DACA and the Clean DREAM Act
Over the years, I have consistently traveled to Washington, D.C. to meet with members of Congress and hold them accountable for their promises to support DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) and the Clean DREAM Act. DACA is a program that protects undocumented youth who were brought to the U.S. as children from deportation and provides them with work authorization, while the Clean DREAM Act is proposed legislation that would provide a permanent, legal pathway to citizenship for these young immigrants.
Through these visits, I have had the opportunity to meet and speak with influential leaders including Vice President Kamala Harris, Senators Dick Durbin, Tammy Duckworth, and Mazie Hirono, Representatives Jan Schakowsky, Jesus “Chuy” Garcia, Mike Quigley, and many others. These meetings allowed me to advocate directly for immigrant youth, share stories from affected communities, and push for legislative action.
This ongoing advocacy reflects my commitment to social justice, immigrant rights, and civic engagement, demonstrating how consistent action and dialogue with policymakers can work toward meaningful change for marginalized communities.
